Judy Frederick, a Pilates Method Alliance certified instructor, has over 1500 hours of education and experience with the Pilates method. She is comprehensively certified through the PhysicalMind Institute and is also a national teacher trainer for Peak Pilates MVe program. Judy is certiified by the American Council of Exercise as a group Fitness Instructor, holds a BS in Health Promotion and Wellness and has double Pilates for Golf certifications. Additionally, Judy spent several years as part of the Strength and Conditioning team in the Athletic Department at UNC-G. in both the sport performance and rehab settings. These days, her primary interest is changing the physical lifestyles of people over 50 and also using corrective exercise methods for clients post injury or post surgery so that they get their most optimal recovery. . She is available for both private and semi private sessions, clinics and workshops.

Molly Markham is an exercise enthusiast with a passion for helping others with their bodies, self-esteem, and improving their quality of life. Molly has always been involved in sports, gymnastics, and teaching. Pilates restored balance and wholeness in to her exercise routine in 2002 when she first started taking classes, essentially looking for something that would strengthen her core and create long, lean muscles. Little did she know that Pilates does way more than just that! From then on Molly has been "hooked" and was trained through the PhysicalMind Institute. Molly also holds certifications with Fusion Pilates to work with pregnant and post pregnant clients on the MAT and on the equipment, and a certification on the TRX Suspension Training System. Molly has been teaching group classes and private lessons for four years. She received her Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science, with a concentration in Pedagogy, from UNC-Greensboro in 2008. Molly's specific interests are working with pregnant and post pregnant women doing Pilates, and sessions on the TRX Suspension Training System. In addition, Molly loves working with all types of shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities to improve overall balance, flexibility, and strength. She modifies all lessons to fit the individual or group she is working with, making their goals and needs the primary focus. Molly has a positive and motivating way of teaching, and is available for group classes, semi-private, and private sessions on the Pilates equipment and on the TRX.

Shannon Rooney is a certified yoga and Pilates instructor with over 10 years of teaching experience. Her dance background and love of movement and running instantly connected her to the mind-body element that yoga and Pilates brings to your overall health. She personally has found strength, balance and healing from past injuries, and she loves the way that these modalities create symmetry in the body and a strong connection with the core. She believes this connection is accessible to everyone from first-time beginners to highly experienced students. In Pilates, she is comprehensively trained through Balanced Body University and is PMA certified. In yoga, she is an E-RYT 500 level yoga instructor with a prenatal certification. Her classes and private sessions will be strong, fun, and encouraging! She likes to teach creative classes blending yoga and Pilates while connecting students with their breath and working towards supporting clients’ individual goals. Shannon has experience working with all different ages and abilities as well as helping clients in their rehab process after an injury. She likes to incorporate a sense of humor and playfulness, as well as deep alignment based cueing to beginner and advanced students alike.

Outside of the studio, Shannon has her Masters in Education from the University of Virginia and was a full-time K-12 Reading Specialist in the school system for nine years. She still loves working with kids and offers private tutoring services. She has had the privledge of teaching Pilates as an adjunct faculty member at UNC School of the Arts as well as working with the athletic teams at UNCG. Shannon’s number one goal is to empower and inspire students to connect with their own strength, health and well-being in every session!

Grace Parra obtained Romana's Pilates level 5 instructor status in 2010 after completing one year and 800 hours of training and observation under the tutelage of Sari Mejia Santo in New York City. She began her studies of Pilates in 2004 while recovering from a back injury she incurred as a result of rigorous dance training at Colorado State University. In 2008 after moving to New York to dance with pioneering contemporary artists she decided to bring her Pilates training to the next level. Since completing certification Grace has trained professional dancers, 70 year olds recovering from hip replacement, 10 year old Figure Skaters and tri-athletes as well as soccer moms and CEOs. Grace loves working with clients one on one to acheive goals specific to their needs and abilities. She is happy to be a part of the knowledgeable and diverse team of instructors at Body Balance Pilates!

Erica Thornton, MS, LAT, ATC, is entering her ninth year as a member of the UNCG Athletic Training staff, her second year as the Head Athletic Trainer. Erica discovered pilates on a whim, by participating in one of Judy Frederick’s mat classes in 2006. She immediately saw the potential benefit to any who would commit to practice. Erica graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from SUNY Brockport in 1996 and a Master’s of Science degree from the University of Florida in 1999. Most recently, Erica completed her comprehensive Pilates certification through the PhysicalMind Institute in December 2009. She has had the opportunity to teach mat classes and equipment classes for all types of people, each with differing individual goals. On a daily basis, Erica finds the opportunity to introduce the fundamentals of pilates with the UNCG student-athletes, both injured and non-injured as she has discovered the added dimension of body awareness makes a huge impact on both return to play and injury prevention. Erica enjoys working with clients with previous and current injury, those that are looking for a new fitness challenge, as well as those that are anxious to eliminate bad habits and minimize imbalances caused by living. Erica lives in Greensboro with her husband, Kevin, three year old daughter, Braedy, and two Siberian Huskies

We welcome Korey to our training program. Korey holds a BS in Public Health, and is certified by both the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the TRX Suspension Training System. Korey’s winning personality and his combined love of athletics and fitness is going to make him one of our top trainers. He is now taking clients for TRX fitness and Functional Training Sessions.

Shannon Tessier has enjoyed a passion for exercise since she was very young. As a former competitive gymnast and Division I diver, she has challenged herself through many forms of exercise. Her childhood passion for sports drove her to study Exercise Sport Science at East Carolina University. Upon graduating with a BS in Exercise Physiology, Shannon was first introduced to Pilates while completing her internship at a physical therapy clinic. There she used Pilates to help in the design of pre and post rehabilitation exercise programs. Shannon went on to become a certified personal trainer and enjoyed working with high level athletes while living in the mountains of Colorado. It was there that Shannon experienced her first true Pilates class and realized the challenge of working the core muscles. Over ten years ago, Shannon became Studio Certified through Polestar Pilates. Shannon enjoys teaching Pilates to a diverse population. From the amateur athlete to post rehab patients, Pilates is a highly effective method to helping each individual achieve their goals. Shannon strives to bring creativity and fun to each goal driven Pilates session . The mind-body connection associated with the Pilates method resonates with her and she believes that connection will help each student of Pilates reach their full potential. Outside of the studio, Shannon coaches diving with Ultimate Air Diving Team and is a mother to three small and highly active children. Shannon, her husband, Brian, and their family reside in Greensboro.

Mary Beth Errington has devoted much of her time the last 15 years helping others reach their fitness
and athletic goals. She has been a personal trainer for 5 years, and a group exercise instructor for 16
years. She coached 4 years as a North Carolina State High School Athletics varsity softball coach. She is
certified in Personal Training, TRX Suspension Training, Cycle, Yoga and Kickboxing. After participating in
varsity athletics at the high school and college level, Mary Beth found running to be an outlet for her
physical and competitive drive, and she’s been running ever since! Mary Beth has completed over 30
marathons, including 6 Boston Marathons, 5 times as an official Pace Runner at the Charlotte
Marathon, and once in Cleveland in 2015 pacing her own daughter to her first marathon. In 2004, in an
effort to force herself to cross-train, Mary Beth began competing in triathlons. She has completed many
races- including one Ironman.
Mary Beth specializes in strength and cardiovascular conditioning. She loves coaching people to reach
their fitness and athletic goals. She also strives to help people learn to self-motivate and break through
“the wall.”
